The travelling uno has once again become the travelling trio
*everyone claps and applauds*
Erin and Robyn had an emotional
reunion in Bangkok on the 29th
March,
we ventured south towards Krabi
were we stayed for just one night
until we then set sail for Koh
Samui.
A private room was quite
satisfactory however the constant sound of
“Japanese Nuiro massage”
echoing through the streets damned the mood somewhat.
A week at the beach was much needed
after crazy Vietnam (for Erin)
and thats pretty much how we spent
our time. An exciting fireshow and fireworks
on the beach added some spice and
an oil massage
was relaxing if not slippery.
Our relaxing trip to Koh Samui was
very much needed to
prepare ourselves for Phi Phi.
After a boat and long drive through
Thailand we ended up back at Krabi
for one more night which
is where we met up with our final
member of the travelling trio.
Here's Megan to tell us how it felt
to see her
best friends again after (3) and
(1) months apart...
They were scheduled to arrive at
around 3ish so I made sure I was ready for their arrival, an hour
passed and they still weren't here, and then another, I was getting
impatient I kept checking the balcony to see if I could see them but
there was still no sign, then at 6 o'clock I heard Robyn's voice
saying 'I'm going to get wifi' seconds later a messaged popped up on
my phone saying 'we have arrived' I didn't really know what to do I
was so excited but nervous for some reason as well. I ran out my door
and down the stairs to their room and literally flung my arms around
Robyn like a koala bear and then jumped on Erin and it was all very
emotional for me not so much for them who didn't actually seem that
bothered at all thanks guys much love xxxxx
(Just saying we had been travelling
all day and were both a sweaty mess,
of course we were happy to see her,
(Robyn) I hadn't seen her in
3 months, after 9 years of
friendship and the longest time
I had spent apart from her was 2
weeks, 3 months was never going
to be a walk in the park, anyway
back to what we've been doing)
So, after our night in Krabi we
finally headed to Phi Phi where we planned
to stay a week. We began with 4
days at a hostel called Blanco, which was located
on the beach and the party hostel
of the island (to put it in perspective the
music would turn off at 3am every
morning so even if you didn't want
to party you wouldn't have been
able to go to sleep with the windows
rattling and the music blaring
through). We began most of our nights
with a 200Baht (£4) bucket (that's
right an actual bucket)
of Daiquiri, from then on the night
was our adventure.
We spent a lot of time exploring
the rest of the strip
along with it's clubs, watching
fire shows, dancing on bars,
consuming as much free shots as we
can, along with as much
pizza as we can and just basically
having a good time.
However, after 4 nights I think we
can all agree we
were shattered and so we moved more
into the centre of
town to a quieter hostel. We spent
most of our days
soaking in the sun and even one day
we went on a boat trip
to explore the surrounding islands,
our favourite place
being Maya Bay which was so
beautiful and where they filmed
'The Beach' (which starred Leo
DiCaprio).
However, I think we can all agree
our favourite day on Phi Phi
was on the 13th
April, known to all Thai as Songkran.
Songkran is the Thai equivalent of
New Year, they celebrate
it by having a huge water fight in
the streets all day and throwing
a mixture of water and baby powder.
In the morning of the 13th
we
ventured out to get breakfast and were ambushed by many groups
of
Thai people, we arrived back at our hostel soaking wet and
covered
in baby powder. That was just the beginning.
Later
that day we got caught in the middle of a water fight in
the
middle of town and ended up spending hours
dancing
in the street, throwing water, getting covered in
baby
powder and having the best time with both Thai people and tourists,
it was
an
experience we will never forget. After our time in Phi Phi
came
to an end we hopped on another boat and head towards Koh Lanta.
Koh Lanta is the place people come for honeymoons-paradise. We spent
two days on the beach and a day at a Thai cooking class. We made
spring rolls, pad thai, chicken with hot basil leaves and green thai
curry. It was so much fun to prep the food and we had our own wok and
flame to cook our meals as well as doggy bags to take back the huge
amount of food we made. Now we are catching a 14hour night bus to
Bangkok then getting straight on a 10hour bus to Siem Reap,
Cambodia!! Cheers Thailand it's been a blast!
Lots of love
Megan, Robyn and Erin
